About Me - Biography

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1964, and am the oldest of six children. When I was around 11 my family moved to Arizona where I lived for much of my life.

I am a retired IT Network Specialist, but writing has been a lifelong passion for me. Words have comforted and sustained me throughout the ups and downs of life's journey. Writing has been a way to explore and make sense of my feelings and experiences. Through posting my poetry online, I met and fell in love with Canadian poet Christy Ann Martine. We are now married and live in Ontario, Canada.

Using various social media platforms, I have grown a substantial following for my poetry both in the U.S. and internationally. My writing covers a broad range of topics, including love and romance, heartbreak and grief, nature, and personal growth. I am grateful whenever readers connect with my words in a meaningful way.

Over the years, my writing has appeared in publications such as Maria Shriver's Sunday Paper, Parade Magazine, Woman's Day, The Wittenburg Door, River Poets Journal, Tuck Magazine, The Urban Howl, Thought Catalog, Elephant Journal, Psychology Today, and more.

My poetry and quotes have been shared by diverse public figures, including motivational author Jack Canfield, journalist Maria Shriver, actress Evan Rachel Wood, and actor Rainn Wilson. My poem Burn Our Masks at Midnight appears in the international bestselling book Leadership from the Inside Out by Kevin Cashman. Dr. Rosalind Watts, Clinical Psychologist at Imperial College London, included a poem of mine in an academic research paper.

I hope my words will do more than entertain. I want to offer people hope, encouragement, and insight and let them know they are not alone, no matter what they are going through.

Influences on my writing include Ray Bradbury, Charles Simic, Jane Hirshfield, Robert Bly, Carl Sagan, and Rumi.

I have published a poetry collection: Taste the Wild Wonder (poetry), She Had a Very Inconvenient Heart (fiction), I Met a Woolly Mammoth (children's poetry), and have co-authored two books with my wife Christy in The Light You Need poetry series. More books are in the works, including another children's poetry book, a collection of love and heartbreak poems, and a book of short stories.
